Gargari Gutity coffee is sourced from the southern regions of Gediyo zone,
specifically Gedeb Wereda ,Banko Gutity Kebele and 22km from Gedeb Town
in Ethiopia. The altitude of the coffee farms ranges from 2300 meters above
sea level, which indicates favourable growing conditions for high-quality
coffee.
The coffee beans are processed at a 2.5-hectare washing station using various
methods such as fully Washed, Natural, Anaerobic, Honey, and Carbonic
Maceration. These processing techniques contribute to the diversity of flavors
and profiles found in the final cup of coffee.
Gargari Gutity is a 100% Arabica coffee, specifically belonging to the 74110 variety. Arabica coffee is
highly regarded for its superior taste and aroma compared to other coffee species. The presence of
the Gutity River as the water source for the coffee processing adds to the unique terroir and
environmental factors that influence the coffee’s flavour.
The washing station operates with 180 drying beds and fermentation tanks that do not have shade
coverings. This setup allows for optimal drying and fermentation processes. The coffee is sourced from
a community of 2400 farmers who contribute their efforts to its production. The dedication and
expertise of these farmers, along with the ownership and management of the washing station, play a
vital role in maintaining the overall quality and consistency of Gargari Gutity coffee
In traditional Ethiopian natural processing, cherries dry in a thin layer on raised beds under sunlight.
In the supernatural method, cherries are dried in a much thicker layer inside a semi-permeable
chamber that limits sunlight but allows controlled airflow, extending drying time and enhancing
natural sugar fermentation. To ensure uniformity and prevent over-fermentation or mould, conditions
are closely monitored through regular checks of temperature, Brix, and moisture, with airflow and
temperature adjusted as needed.
