Description

Kyagalanyi Coffee Limited is a private company in Uganda, involved in coffee procurement, processing and export Uganda, on the shores of Lake Victoria, straddles the equator and is the source of the Nile. Its coffees benefit from a bi-modal rainfall season, high altitudes and a year-round pleasant climate.

In the far northwestern corner of Uganda, on the border with DR Congo, is West Nile, which produces up to 3,000 tons of green coffee each year. The coffee here is shade grown at high altitudes, which produces cups with a bright acidity and a sweet, citric finish.

Kyagalanyi became the first ISO 9001:2008 certified coffee export company in Uganda in 2000 and is, since 2009, fully compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

Kyagalanyi’s Farmer Support Organization (FSO) includes more than 60 field staff who provide a range of services to approximately 12,000 Arabica-farming households. Over the last two years, FSO teams supporting a Stop Child Labor effort worked with coffee households to help them find additional income, and 437 children were able to go back to school.
